1910 Zazarack

This is an original spin on a classic drink that replaces Rye Whiskey with Bourbon.

Equipment

  • Old Fashioned Glass (Low Ball)
  • Stirring Spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 dash Absinth Can substitute Anise if Absinthe is not available.
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters
  • 1 cube sugar Can substitute simple syrup
  • 1 part Bourbon Whiskey

Instructions
 

  • Stir all ingredients with a piece of broken ice. If you prefer to dilute further stir with more ice.
  • Serve. Cheers!

Notes

This recipe is based on the original 1910, "Zazarac," recipe from Jacob "Jack" Grohusko's book Jack's Manual. The recipe was a spin on the original Sazerac, where this version features Bourbon as the base in place of Rye Whiskey or Cognac. It is often times still referred to as a Sazerac today or a Bourbon Sazerac. We recommend preparing this drink with a top shelf bourbon since it is very Bourbon forward on the taste.
